Working from home causing you stress and anxiety?

Most Americans spend more time working than with our family at home. Many Americans made the transition in 2020 to working a job or business from home instead of at an office which may have brought up additional issues such as anxiety, sharing work space, or family conflict.   The place where we work should feel safe and comfortable either way and counseling can provide a place to create workable solutions for everyone.

Co-workers or business associates likely represent a variety of personalities, communication styles, and worldviews which sometimes can lead to conflict.

Workplace bullying is real and statistical research has shown almost half of all American workers have been affected as a target or as a witness to abusive behaviors. Statistics also indicate around 80% of employees suffer from work-related stress.

How Therapy Can Help

Therapy for these work and career issues can help an individual develop a better understanding of their personal strengths and desires; consider solutions to overcome challenges; and consider ways to approach a circumstance professionally and yet powerfully.  Counseling can help access stress caused by work and learn and practice skills to handle or even reduce stress. Therapy can bring together co-workers to work on relationship issues, set boundaries, and develop understanding if necessary. Work is a system and  therapeutic techniques can help bring about peace and harmony in the work environment.

At Metro Denver Family Therapy clients have a calm, neutral setting to discuss their anxiety, fears, or challenges, and learn to communicate with co-workers.  If appropriate, a co-worker can be invited into a counseling session to resolve issues or be a place for the client to feel safe sharing a concern, asking important questions, and being connected to important resources.
